So Bloggers :) nice to see y'all again
Months and months ago ( well actually) like a few weeks ago I recieved a letter informing me that I had been entered in to the DesignED in Cornwall event at Falmouth University. I was pleased with this and just sort of brushed it aside as a "Completely Fair" type thing where people won either because A)no-one had ever thought of thier idea before, mainly because it was un-marketable and unreasonable OR B) The Child knew the judges and prizes were given out on an elite based system where you win because of who you know.
I arrived at the Bid event and it was packed full of kids and thier parents looking at outstanding work, all of which was amazing! Looking around I felt a rather sinking type feeling, another event which was so close yet so far, sigh.
I met up with some friends for the awards ceremony, lots of talking. Then the prizes :o I was stood next to my friend who literally was stood there fingers crossed almost red in the face begging God, Bhudda and anything else she could think of not to win? confused? she said that she didn't want to win as she would walk to the stage and trip or start crying, bless her.
And then they called my catergory "textiles and fashion" and my name was called! I stood there in shock.... and stood there .... and stood there. Until eventually I realised walking up to collect my prize would be a good idea. Bright red and feeling extremely shy I collected my prize. Photos were taken, I was interviewed and then looking at everything afterwards I still couldn't believe that out of all the projects in Cornwall I had won!
Anyway moving on....
Mozambique 5 days! I cannot wait. There is alot of stuff to fit in my suitcase and handluggae, 12 kg of stuff for the orphanage, roll mat, pillow, sleeping bag and all my things too. And I've done it almost :) If I'm honest I still cannot beleive we are going, it's not going to be real until we are on the plane. Night flights, both ways :( Night Flights are not my favourite thing because a) I always end up sitting by the person who should have really booked two seats rather than making me sleep pressed up against the window. b) the before mentioned person always snores very loudly c) I cant speak to ask for more seat space because, quiet is compulsory otherwise the grumpy person with the lazy eye gets angry and continues to give evils for the duration of the flight. d) sleep is difficult in a different bed, let alone above the cloud barrier of the earth, traveling extremely fast and sitting up wondering if I will live to see the end of the journey,
So more on Mozambique when I arrive home, If I make it through the flight, Joke, I hope.....
losh of luff
